French vocabulary drill for my kids. Words go both ways — French to Dutch and Dutch to French — and a Leitner schedule decides what comes back and when, so the words she already knows stop taking up her time.
The French word is spoken aloud, and only the French one: on French → Dutch when the question appears, on Dutch → French once the answer is shown. Hearing it at the moment you are trying to produce it is the point; hearing the Dutch would just be noise.
It installs to the home screen on a tablet and runs full-screen, which matters more than it sounds — a thing that looks like an app gets opened, and a bookmark does not.
No server, no database, no API keys, no running cost. It is a static page, and it will still work in five years for exactly that reason.
